Who We Are:
The Friends of the Dennis Community Center is a grassroots Political Action Committee (PAC) of dedicated residents, neighbors, and friends. We are united by a single vision: ensuring our town has a modern, multi-generational space to connect, grow, and thrive.
What We Are Doing
We are organizing a town-wide movement to secure the support and "Yes" votes needed to green-light the construction of a new, 35,000-square-foot community center at the Wixon School property.
Our work includes:
Public Advocacy: Educating voters on the project’s design, which includes a 12,000 sq. ft. gymnasium and flexible multi-use rooms.
Community Mobilization: Encourage town residents to attend important town meetings to support this essential project.
Resource Alignment: Partnering with the Dennis Recreation Commission to ensure the building meets the actual needs identified in town-wide assessments.
Why We Are Doing It
Dennis has changed, and our public infrastructure needs to change with it. We believe a dedicated center is a necessity, not a luxury, because:
Connection is Year-Round: Our town needs a "winter living room" and a gathering space for adults, teens, and families during the quiet months and the busy seasons.
Safety & Logistics: We need a modern hub for emergency sheltering and a secure, permanent home for town records currently stored in trailers.
Civic Pride: Hosting town meetingsIN DENNIS and providing a home for lifelong learning reinforces our identity as a vibrant, self-sustaining community.
Smart Investment: By building now, we are providing a symbol of civic pride and a home for wellness that will serve generations of residents to come.
